Right to Live Association and Towards Humanity The Right
to Live Association was one of five charities selected to benefit from
the proceeds of a peace concert for the Middle East that was held at the
Royal Albert Hall (London), February 1995. An estimated $2000 been raised
for the Association and Wissam Boustany has twice had the opportunity
of giving musical workshops at the centre. About The Right to Live Association The Right to Live Association was founded in 1981 with the aim of providing mentally handicapped children with the necessary skills to cope with the outside world. The Association offers support through the means of a residential care centre. Right to Live is a private charity, which is not subsidised by the government. This Association was founded by the parents and friends of mentally handicapped children. Since 1981 they have established a school for children and young adults up to the age of twenty-five: the Delivrande School at Heliopolis.

An important programme at the Delivrande School is the three-year pre-vocational training course, which includes social and workshop skills and handicrafts such as needlework, pottery and design. Throughout, home economics and using money are emphasised to help the young adult attain maximum independence and self-sufficiency. Some of those completing this course will be able to earn their own living and adjust to the outside world; for others their future lies in a sheltered environment. But for all, the course is vital in developing their individual capabilities for work and enjoyment of life. Drawings and paintings by the students of the Delivrande School entitled "WE ALSO CREATE" are often exhibited in venues like the American University in Cairo, the National Centre for the Plastic Arts and the Art Syndicate Gallery. These artworks have been re-created as a collection of beautifully produced greeting cards. For more information
